Fundraising and Development Has Begun for “Children of The White City”

Dark Monarch Films is proud to announce that development has officially begun on its first feature film, Children of the White City. Written and produced by David Alexander, the project draws on his South Shore upbringing to tell a powerful story of youth, memory, and legacy in Chicago.

Set against the backdrop of the city’s South Shore neighborhood, Children of the White City follows a boy whose coming-of-age journey collides with the forgotten history of the 1893 World’s Fair. Blending intimate storytelling with historical resonance, the film captures the resilience of community while exploring how the past continues to shape the future.

“Chicago isn’t just the setting for this film — it’s the soul of it,” says Alexander. “This story reclaims the city’s legacy through the lens of modern youth and brings South Shore’s voice to a global audience.”

Fundraising for the film is now live through [GiveWP link], where supporters can contribute directly to the project and view the official development deck. The film is currently slated for production in 2026.

Children of the White City represents Dark Monarch Films’ next step in building original, independent IP rooted in Chicago but resonant worldwide.
