Dark Monarch Films is proud to share that its upcoming thriller series, Magnetic Drive, was recently featured in a Reel Chicago editorial roundup highlighting notable productions currently moving through Illinois.
Published on June 12, 2026, the article examines several projects contributing to a busy production season across Chicago and the surrounding region. Alongside a Disney Channel pilot, an HBO Max drama pilot, and an independent horror feature, Magnetic Drive was highlighted as an emerging project from Chicago’s growing independent and vertical storytelling community.
Created, written, directed, and produced by David Alexander, Magnetic Drive is a 10-episode thriller series centered on Marcus, a rideshare driver forced to confront his past when a mysterious passenger refuses to leave his car. What begins as an ordinary night quickly becomes a reckoning between fate, identity, and the choices that define us.
The article also recognizes key members of the production team, including producer Tavores Johnson, cinematographer Joe “Jody” Williams, editor Max Mooney, and Paul Sinacore Casting. Cast members highlighted in the feature include Madeline Ackerlund, Tyshaun Meekie, Emmanuel Johnston, and Logan Alexis Ford.
As Dark Monarch Films continues post-production on the series, the recognition serves as an encouraging milestone for both the project and the company. While audiences have yet to see the first episode, it is exciting to see Magnetic Drivealready becoming part of the broader conversation surrounding independent production in Illinois.
We would like to thank Reel Chicago for including Magnetic Drive in its summer production roundup.
